After a packed training week with UKLC staying on campus at Chester University, I’m re-packing my over-sized bag ready for the next phase of our adventure. It has been great to get to know my great bunch of new colleagues before we split into 2 groups of 11 tomorrow - one to the sunny Valencia region (not me) and one to the more rugged A Coruna in the north (me!).
After a busy training week, including several evening sessions, I now feel I have a few more ideas in my toolbox for the coming weeks to help me adjust from the CELTA course to teaching young learners. It looks like I’ll be teaching a variety of ages and I can’t wait to meet them. The challenge ahead is both a little daunting and exciting, but I think we are all just desperate to get there and get started now!
We managed to fit in a couple of hours in Chester this morning before a 2.5 hour Spanish lesson this afternoon. I managed to resist the lure of clothes shops, given that my bag is already too heavy, and settled for a lovely brunch and a trip to The Works and Poundland to pick up a few small supplies to use in class. It’s a lovely city and we were blessed with some brief sunshine. I hope to return! I’ve enjoyed my time on campus, masquerading as a student (albeit slightly older than average!), but with free cake available at both lunch and dinner it’s a good job we’re leaving tomorrow whilst my clothes still fit me!
We have a long day ahead tomorrow so adios for now! Y viva Espana!
