A gander round Gandia

Week 3. We're already on week 3. Insanity.

This whole experience is flying by and I'm trying to ensure that I continue throwing myself into the teaching, whilst also leaving enough time (and energy) to fully enjoy the Spanish experience. It's a tricky feat all in all, but its manageable.

Today's blog comes off the back off an absolutely brilliant weekend in Gandia. A group of us Valencians visited our friends down south and we had an absolute blast. The lovely Carol and Rachel cooked Tom and I a great meal, we then watched an interesting, albeit bizarre Spanish film, that I believe translates to 'The Lame Pigeon.' Best of all, we spent the Saturday aftertoon lounging on the glorious beach - I even managed to get sunburnt, in February!! The evening was an experience too. We ended our mini break on a children's fairground ride, where we spent a good twenty mintutes being chased by a man in flamenco themed drag - he literally jumped onto the ride and experienced what I can only describe as several near death experiences. It was a surreal end to the trip, but a fantastic one at that.

Back to the teaching, I guess! This week, I'm leading the most lessons and activities that I ever have, and I'm feeling ready. The prospect did initially daunt me, but with just under two weeks left, I figured I might as well just go for it. Today, I taught some children a bunch of classic idoms - e.g., 'break a leg,' and 'stabbed in the back.' They seemed to really enjoy it, although they were confused by the meanings. Idioms are bizarre tbh, but I enjoy teaching them.

So thats it really. I'll get back to you, once I've survived the week. Here's hoping for another great one guys!!
