hey, everyone, I hope you are all doing great and learning lots.
Weirdly already into the second week. Time is going really fast (too fast). It's starting to feel more normal and although there are still awkward moments, such as the student throwing the paper aeroplane at my head, it is becoming a much more comfortable experience. This is great because I'm teaching more and more in the classroom, so it appears the more I am teaching and dealing with these awkward scenarios the more comfortable I'm becoming. This can only be a good thing.
The biggest thing I've learnt about Spanish schools so far is - THEY ARE LOUD!!!
some classes can reach fever point, especially just before lunch or the end of the day. Students can smell the canteen food and the taste of freedom, so in the true teenager-fashion, they decide they will express their excitement by screaming and shouting.
I can now take most of the classes without any large hiccups. This is largely due to the fact the majority of the students want to learn from me. However, there are certain pupils in certain classes whose sole purpose is to disrupt the rest and I am still learning how best to deal with them, as they often speak no English, and continue the lesson effectively.
All in all the experience so far has been nothing short of breathtaking and I look forward to what the next few weeks will bring!!
Catch up after the weekend.
Much love Tom
