It's carnival week in A Coruna and the excitement amongst the kids is palpable. Today Arts Primary 1 (my first time with the 6 and 7 year olds as I've been given some extra hours) made carnival masks. The sense of anticipation and festivity is buzzing all the way through the primary groups.
By contrast yesterday I taught a group of laid back 4th ESOs, who are nearing the end of secondary school. I lead them to make their own adverts for an object of their choice and they were fantastic, coming up with adverts which were very funny and intelligent. They're a lovely group and their English is very impressive. I already own a notebook, but the phrase 'an intstrument for recording your whole life,' made me want to go straight out and buy another! I've never found consumerism quite so fun.
It's been a very full week and I'm feeling tired but very pleased with how it's all going. Over the weekend I'm hoping we get sunshine, as I want to visit the castle and a couple of the museums in town.
Hope everyone's having a good one,
Toby
